Kontrabassduo Studer-Frey
In April 2019, the Studer and Frey duo marked their 20th anniversary with a series of ten half-hour concerts at the Kronen Galerie in Zurich. The performances accompanied an exhibition by the artists Ruth Hoesli (paintings) and Theres Stämpfli (ceramics). In this intimate atmosphere, where ears were close to the sounds generated and where the praxis of improvisation was particularly transparent, the duo really came into its own. The new album is primarily made up of recordings taken from one of these ten concerts.
