This is the sixth duo album from Carolyn Hume (piano, keys) and Paul May (drums) for Leo Records. Contrary to all expectations, it has been quite a change of direction. Across 6 pieces there are elements of jazz, neo-classical and free improvisation. But more importantly, together they create a haunting atmosphere of cinematic interludes and tribal rhythms with settings deep in nostalgia and sadness. ‘Kill The Lights’ is a journey of sonic intimacy where stillness and release permeate the duo’s landscape.
