Nawora

Simon Nabatov | Nils Wogram | Tom Rainey

It comes as no surprise that these three breeze through this session, no matter how weighty or feather-light the musical situation might be. Being at a complete ease and free from dogmatic rules about what one does and does not do in the area of free improvisation makes this compact unit robust and agile at once. The choice of the musical means runs effortlessly the gamut, from “scratch and sniff” aesthetics to the healthy red-cheeked jazz and blues vocabulary, with lush romanticism, playful anarchy and many more stops in between. All of it deployed not to show off the considerable prowess of each musician, but to follow the unified sense for the “appropriate” dramaturgical development of the material; material that can be formulated and introduced by each of the three members of this gentle triumvirate.
