Last Train From Narvskaya

Alexey Kruglov | Carolyn Hume | Paul May | Oleg Yudanov

Recorded at the eighth Leo Records festival in Russia in November 2020 by two Russians and two Brits. Long gone are the times when Russia was considered to be a back water of new and improvised music. What is surprising here is not the fact that the Russians and Brits recorded together, the surprise here is the quality of both the sound and the music. Alexey Kruglov has been called “the future of jazz” by the British magazine JAZZWISE. He is definitely fulfilling this promise. What is also amazing is that the four musicians with strong identities sacrificed their egos to create music of great beauty.
